Import a video and obtain a timed transcript. Select passages to keep or ranges to remove. Review the edit plan and the remaining sequence before rendering. This workflow focuses on transcript-linked cuts.
Check cut boundaries
A cut should not remove the start or end of a word. Leave enough room for breaths and pauses. Listen across joins and check that the resulting sentence still makes sense.
Captions need to follow the edited timeline. Check the remapped timings in the rendered output, especially around removed ranges and speaker changes.
Add a voiceover or subtitles
Keep the original recording as a source. Review the edit before using it for another subtitle or voiceover workflow. A translated voiceover needs its own phrasing and synchronization review after cuts.
Review the kept ranges
A new edit plan initially keeps the full recording. Change the ranges deliberately, then mark the resulting plan reviewed before rendering. Editing a transcript's wording is separate from choosing which intervals of video to keep.
Check the first and last words around each join. Word-timing evidence can refine a boundary when it belongs to the same source; a subtitle cue's full time range may include silence or part of the next phrase.
What rendering produces
The video-edit route in published 0.12.0 requires a video source and a timed transcript. Rendering creates a separate edited MP4 and retimed captions; a subtitles-only render produces the caption/timing results without the edited video. The original recording remains the reference for the edit.
Use the edited MP4 with its matching retimed captions for the next project. Combining it with the original caption timestamps will shift subtitles after removed ranges. If you revise the cuts, render and check the new timeline before generating another voiceover.
